What the customer wanted

• Kill the afternoon heat on a truck with no covered parking
• Stay legal for Texas inspection on the front doors
• Keep the factory look — no purple, no mirror finish

How we approached it

This Raptor lives outside at a job site all day, which is the worst case for a black interior in a Montgomery County summer. The owner had been told by another shop that going darker was the only way to cut heat — it is not. Infrared rejection is a property of the film, not the shade.

We ran 3M Ceramic IR on the sides and rear and a nearly clear Crystalline film on the windshield. The windshield film is what surprises most customers: it looks like nothing is there, and it removes more heat than the side glass does.

Results

• Cabin cools down in a fraction of the time after sitting in the sun
• Clear ceramic windshield knocked out the westbound glare on FM 1488
• Front doors cut at a legal VLT with the state compliance sticker applied
